***Caroline L. Hammond Bio
Partner, White Glove Event Production, LLC
Caroline is originally from New York City, and has been exposed to the event business most of her life as her mothers career involved catering sales for some of the major hotel properties in New York. Through this connection, Caroline was given the opportunity to assist various event planners in the area, while she attended her first year at Baruch College, City University of New York. This was her first taste of event planning, to which she felt a strong connection.
In order to experience living in another part of the country, she transferred to The University of Colorado at Boulder, where she completed her B.A. in Communication, and graduated in 1991.
With a penchant to experience even more of the country, she moved to Seattle after graduation, where she lived for 3 years. In Seattle, Caroline was an advertising director at Encore Publishing, where the regional performing arts programs and gift industry magazines are published. Caroline did volunteer work as an event planner for the Seattle Art Museum.
In 1994, Caroline returned to her New York home to marry a native Roanoke Virginian, whom she met in college. Shortly after the wedding, they made their home in Roanoke where she now resides with her husband, Murray and daughters, Sophie and Sarabeth.
In Roanoke, Caroline has been employed as a sales rep for Roanoker Magazine, as well as an account rep for Baker & Taylor Entertainment. She founded Lady In Waiting Event Production in October of 1996. The business grew exponentially, putting Lady In Waiting on the map as one of two of the regions premier event planning firms. Lady In Waiting managed accounts with customers all over the country.
In 2002, after much discussion and collaboration, Caroline merged with Sharlene Caldwell, owner of the former Sharlene Caldwell Wedding and Event Planner, and together they founded White Glove Event Production, LLC.
***Sharlene A. Caldwell Bio
Partner, White Glove Event Production, LLC.
Sharlene is a native Virginian who has been involved in event planning for over a decade. Shortly after high school, Sharlene started modeling for one of the largest bridal houses in Southwest Virginia, Brides House and Formals in Roanoke. Sharlene loved modeling and was given the opportunity to sign with a regional modeling agency, Kings Entertainment. This experience opened many doors and gave Sharlene the opportunity to meet some very interesting people.
While modeling, Sharlene attended New River Community College where she studied business management. In 1990, she married a fellow native of Virginia. They made their home in scenic Floyd County. Soon after, she accepted a position with Eye Care Optometric Center where she quickly rose to the position of Business Manager. While at Eye Care, Sharlene assisted in the planning of many of the companys special events and promotions.
In 1995, Sharlene and Jimmy welcomed the birth of their first child, Rachel. James followed in 1997. Still feeling a strong connection to the wedding industry, Sharlene worked with brides at Brides House and Formals as a wedding consultant. During this time, Sharlene assisted brides with stylizing their wedding party look as well as choosing their dresses. Sharlene was soon asked by Brides House to be their in-house wedding planner.
In 1999, Sharlene founded her own event planning company under her own name. With experience, and the confidence of some of the most prestigious venues in Southwest Virginia, Sharlene Caldwell Event Planning quickly became one of only two preferred wedding planners in the area. Sharlene has planned weddings and managed accounts for clients all over the world-from San Francisco, to New York, to Atlanta, to Egypt.
After much thought, and the feeling that Southwest Virginia needed a firm that could service clients at an even larger scale, Sharlene merged her company with Caroline Hammond, owner of the former Lady In Waiting. Together they founded White Glove Event Production, LLC, a premier event planning company located in the heart of Roanoke, Virginia in the historic City Market.
