HOTSOCKY WIN NEW YORK ROCKS THE HALL OF FAME/M.E.A.N.Y FEST" CONTEST; BAND PERFORMED DURING CMJ MUSIC MARATHON
NYC-based buzz band HotSocky are the winners in the NEW YORK ROCKS THE HALL OF FAME/M.E.A.N.Y FEST" competition, held at the Rock 'N Ro. What a nice lead-in for their follow-up concert, opening NYCs newest hot spot Pianos, as part of the annual CMJ Music Marathon (October 30). The New York Rocks..." contest saw four band finalists (HotSocky, Stellastarr, The Rosenbergs, Fixer), chosen during the NYC M.E.A.N.Y Fest, showcase in front of a panel of judges whose identities were kept secret to safeguard their objectivity. The panel included one NYC sound engineer, two local Cleveland musicians, and two local music fans. Despite fierce competition during which all the bands rocked their hearts out, HotSocky were unanimously declared the winner, earmarking the band as having the most potential to be signed by a label and have success in the industry." As winners, HotSocky receive 30 hours free studio time at Stream Ring Music Network in Ronkonkoma, NY. Special guests who performed on the bill with HotSocky were downpore, and The Nick Clemons Band. So taken with the venerable venue that he was rendered almost speechless, HotSocky drummer Buz could only repeat numerous times about the Hall of Fame: It is an honor to perform here!" Lead guitarist Jerry Stereo enthused: Wow! Nothing puts the Hot in Socky like a live show, especially when it's at the Rock'n Roll Hall Of Fame, surrounded by the Legends of rock, and winning a festival competition!"
Following the Hall of Fame appearance, HotSocky headed off to Indianapolis to record new songs with producer Vess Ruhtenberg (ex-United States Three, current member of The Pieces). Recent HotSocky performances include the Second Annual Joey Ramone Birthday Bash, headlining the closing live show at Brownies, and supporting Girls Against Boys at the Bowery Ballroom. HotSockys song Loves Sick" was recently played on "Out Of The Box," Jonathan Clarkes weekly radio program featuring the best in new music and local undiscovered artists, heard on NYC's #1 Rock station Q104.3 FM.
