Secret to Memorizing Numbers - 010 Memorizer

New Brunswick, Canada (November 25th, 2002) - Our society is full of numbers: phone numbers, dates, zip codes, PINs, etc. Yet for most people numbers remain one of the most difficult things to remember. Today SweetScape announces 010 Memorizer, a program designed specifically to help you memorize numbers.

Numbers are difficult to memorize because they are so hard to visualize. Most people can easily remember a crazy scene, such as a kangaroo slipping on a banana peel, but have a hard time remembering a number such as 9327581. Want to know the secret to memorizing a number? The trick is to use 010 Memorizer to convert the number into a word or phrase that creates a vivid picture in your mind.

The system used to convert numbers to letters is based on phonetics. Assign each of the digits 0 through 9 to a consonant and insert some vowels until you get a word. For example, suppose that you want to remember that the atomic weight of Gold is 79. Suppose also that 7 is represented by C and 9 is represented by B. Then we could insert the vowel A to get the word CAB. The last step is to make a crazy or vivid association between the word CAB and GOLD. Imagine a solid gold, sparkling cab driving down the street with a gold-toothed cab driver. Next time you want to remember the atomic weight of gold, just remember this scene and you will know that the answer is 79.

Converting numbers to words is fairly easy when the numbers are small, but the process becomes more difficult for larger numbers. This is the strength of 010 Memorizer: just enter a number into the easy-to-use interface and the program will list all of the words that could be used to represent that number. For example, you could convert a phone number 212-0734 into "NEWTON'S CAMERA", or a date 07/15/93 could be represented by "A SOAKED ALBUM".

010 Memorizer features a large phonetic dictionary that is fully customizable. The software gives you control of the phonetic conversions and can even generate random phrases for you. Store all your numbers and phrases in a list and save it to disk for retrieval later.

There are many applications of 010 Memorizer: Remember zip codes, PINs, passwords, dates, bible verse references, social security numbers, student id numbers, plus many more. Memorize all of your phone numbers and throw away your PDA. Be creative, and most importantly, have fun.
