Making The Most Of Your Assets AXiOSS Inventory Management System Gets Inventory Location and Management Back on Track

It is estimated that 40 to 50 percent of most medium-to-large carrier network capacity is lost or abandoned due to poor inventory tracking methods. An essential aspect of delivering profitable services is the ability to optimise the use of resources. Whether for defining and reserving resources or for managing scale and time, Axiom Systems Inventory Management System (IMS) maximises resource usage, with the advantage of working closely with AXiOSS Order to Service (O²S).

Although they function as stand alone products, by also being a part of a pre-integrated Suite in AXiOSS, Axioms IMS maximises resource usage by utilising AXiOSS O²S in real time, identifying where spare capacity is available and maximising it, or when insufficient, triggering a whole new order processing sequence. The absence of hard coding makes the product more flexible and scalable than any other product on the market. It does this by using its highly scaleable & flexible carrier class architecture combined with pre-identified solution and templates.

To free up essential capital, equipment can be ordered on a just in time basis so that is not redundant. This dramatically improves the network planning operation and subsequently saves Service Providers (SPs) money in efficiency. In a project for a tier one customer, 6 million of CAPEX was recovered in one site alone. Customers using the state-of-the art Inventory Management System and who have benefited include Thus and British Telecom. Axiom has signed nine customers this year, who will be using the IMS solution to help them cut costs, speed up the service delivery process and serve customers with the services they require on time, every time.

The most significant development of the IMS solution is that it can upload and download information directly from the network itself. This means the information is up-to-the-minute and the combination of O²S (Order to Service), and SAFE (Service Activation Framework Environment) enables Axioms solution to react to the information immediately. In a mission critical situation, when customers are waiting impatiently for services to be implemented, this can make the difference between churn and return.

Axioms IMS solution can also manage any other assets including; telephone numbers and IP addresses as well as synchronising data directly from the network and other software platforms. This saves SPs time, and keeps all people and systems involved in service delivery informed with up-to-date information. IMS enables all assets and resources to be correlated with application, service and customer records enabling a service centric view of the network.

The solution has an easy to use Designer Tool which makes it simple for the client to make changes using the point and click GUI -- they can add, change and delete more easily and faster than ever before. This also means less skilled staff can use the product and changes can be made directly. The interface uses a Gantt chart, which clearly shows workflow and highlights problems on a real time basis, and is a feature, which is highly commended by current customers for usability and for speeding up provisioning times.
