Supports Up To 21 Users To Simultaneously and Independently Run Windows® Applications
Emeryville, California (USA), November 21, 2002 - THINSOFT (Holdings) Inc (the 'Group'; HK GEM Stock Code: 8096) today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary ThinSoft (USA) Inc ('ThinSoft) has rolled out its latest software product - the revolutionary WinConnect Server XP - that injects more functionality into a Microsoft Windows® XP (Home and Professional Editions) computer (Host PC).
WinConnect Server XP enables a Microsoft Windows® XP computer or Host PC to allow up to 21 remote desktop sessions. It allows Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 4.0, 5.0 and 5.1 enabled Thin Client (TC) devices to connect to a Host PC to run Windows® applications simultaneously and independently. The TC devices include Terminals, Internet/Information Appliances and PDAs.
The TC devices are connected to the Host PC via wired or wireless TCP/IP connection; such as local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), dial-up (Internet), digital subscriber line (DSL, ADSL), Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) or virtual private network (VPN).
Wired or wireless connections are possible due to the low data transmission bandwidth feature of RDP.
A key feature of WinConnect Server XP exists in its ability to enable users of TC devices to access and run same or different Windows® applications simultaneously and independently to create and edit documents, and to share peripherals. The peripherals include CD-ROM, printers and other hardware installed on the Host PC. All users are also able to access the Internet and email concurrently, and even share network access with individual and unique customized desktop and login.
WinConnect Server XP's revolutionary product ability essentially results in a reduction in the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) as a result of increasing the application versatility for Thin Client devices and lower overall maintenance costs under the Host Server-TC environment.
WinConnect Server XP will primarily be focused on the market segments of government, businesses, education, and retail.
ThinSoft's President and Executive Director Bernard Ngiam said: "WinConnect Server XP addresses and facilitates the reduction of TCO in computing environments across most commonly used computing platforms.
"WinConnect Server XP is a breakthrough software that adds more functionality to the Windows® XP PC and with its launch, ThinSoft has one of the most diverse solutions in the thin computing arena.

o Remote connection means access to data and Windows applications wherever and whenever needed
