GLOBALFEST2002 Announces Winning Films

Awards announced for inaugural film festival of the Inland Empire

The Haili Wailele Film/Arts Foundation has released the names of the jury award winning films of the inaugural GLOBALFEST2002, Global Film Fesitval of the Inland Empire. Over 70 films were submitted for competition and exhibition in this first-ever regional film festival. The event was created to provide an accessible venue to showcase regional filmmakers and to encourage the exchange of ideas and film work between local and international filmmakers.

The jury awarded the following films and filmmakers:

Best Inland Empire Short Film - Sasha, Daniel Tossounian, Riverside, CA
Best Inland Empire Documentary - Kafkaesque, Sven Berkemier and Rich Samuels, lake Arrowhead, CA
Best Short - Man With the Empty Room, Todd Korgan, Portland, OR
Best Documentary - Why Vivaldi?, Teddy Grouya, Palm Springs, CA
Best First-Time Director - Alchemy, Anna Condo, New York City, NY
Best Animated Film - Oz t.v., Nicole Burd, Acton, CA
Best World Cinema - Egg, Clive Richards, London, England
Best Student Film - Moosh, Erez Tadmor, Tel Aviv, Israel
Best Instrumental Soundtrack - Moosh, Erez Tadmor, Tel Aviv, Israel
Best Song Soundtrack - Chrysanthemums & Gladiolas, Tristan Thai, Santa Monica, CA

The film and soundtrack competitions were juried by members of Sundance Institute, American Film Institute (AFI), Independent Documentary Association (IDA), Independent FIlm Producers (IFP), Home Box Office (HBO), Film Music Network, deRoche Music, Inc., Mussicomm, Inc. and Rogers Entertainment.
