Bridgewater Systems, a provider of IP network, service and access control solutions for service providers, today announced that Aliant Mobility has licensed three of its offerings to support its 1xRTT CDMA wireless services.
AAA Service Controller provides authentication, authorization and account management for user access to wireless and wireline networks. Revenue Collector correlates and produces a single Radius accounting record for rating, billing and clearing systems, reducing accounting data volume by at least a factor of five. The Revenue Formatter filters, formats and streams user session records to the appropriate external billing system ensuring consistency and accuracy of records.
According to Chuck Hartlen, vice president of Aliant Mobility, We were pleased with Bridgewater Systems ability to upgrade our existing platform to support our new 1x services without any impact to our existing customers currently using the platform in Prince Edward Island. Bridgewater Systems provided a cost-effective solution for Aliant Mobility's Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) requirements for the CDMA 1x network."
The new 1x network will deliver the fastest mobile data speeds in Atlantic Canada. Customers in the Halifax Metro area will be the first in Atlantic Canada to experience the benefits of this new generation technology and, throughout 2003, Aliant Mobility will introduce 1x service in other major centers across Atlantic Canada.
Aliant validates our strategy of offering a modular solution that can be implemented when needed, explained Derek Smyth, Bridgewater Systems president and CEO. As a long-standing customer that originally licensed our AAA offering for dial and DSL environments, Aliant has been able to add additional functionality as its business has grown and the state of technology advanced."
More information about Bridgewater and its products will be available at the CDMA Americas Congress event in San Diego, CA, Dec. 3-5, 2002, Booth #118.
