OVER ONE MILLION ABSENCES SERVED

High School Art Teacher Helps Pennsylvania-Based Firm Reach Milestone

Malvern, PA October 25, 2002: In districts all over the country, school administrators will have one less headache to contend with this school year. The tedious job of securing substitute teachers is now being performed over the Internet and through Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technologies. Over 3,900 schools nationwide have embraced AESOP, a new Internet and telephone-based substitute management system that allows teachers to post their absences over the Internet for substitute teachers to view and accept as they become available. On September 18, Amy Sullen, a high school art teacher with the Spring-Ford Area School District in Pennsylvania registered the one millionth absence.
How It Works
The new system makes it easy for teachers to enter openings online and for substitute teachers to immediately view the openings for which they are qualified. It all takes place over the Internet, through AESOPs web site, www.AESOPonline.com.
Teachers simply log on and post the job opening. At the same time, the districts approved substitutes can log on using a personal identification number and view the openings right over the Internet, as they are posted. The PIN numbers make it impossible for anyone else to view the assignments. Only the district-approved substitutes have access to the system. For those substitutes who choose to use the telephone, AESOP automatically makes the same information available through an IVR technology. Substitutes simply call into an 800 number and use their touch-tone phones to find and accept job openings for which they are certified.
In addition, AESOPs first-of-its-kind Internet reporting provides a new level of efficiency and visibility for school administrators while allowing them to increase the odds of filling every assignment, everyday. The online system also gives both district and school level administrators an arsenal of reports. These various reports and graphs enable administrators to view and analyze absenteeism and substitute placement trends in real time." The system is also very easy to use even for those without a great deal of previous computer experience. One school level administrator in Brevard County Florida recently said this of the program: I find using the system very easy. I now have much more free time at home with my family since I don't have to spend hours on the phone looking for subs!"

The View From Outside the District
This fall alone, some 115,000 teachers in 180 school districts, servicing approximately 1.6 million students nationwide, will be using AESOP.
Schools nationwide are discovering that AESOP can help them fill substitute positions more quickly and with a higher quality teacher," says Michael Blackstone, CEO of FrontLine Data, Inc.    Were seeing huge increases in fill rates for schools throughout the country using AESOP because of the systems efficiency. Sixty percent of all absences posted on AESOP are filled within one hour. Eighty-eight percent are filled within one day. That speed allows school districts to quickly get the word out to substitutes who otherwise may take assignments with other local districts if not for the ability to quickly access the jobs over the Internet."
Nationwide, FrontLine has discovered that substitutes and teachers are five times more likely to use the Internet than the phone to register and fill an assignment. At the same time, AESOP allows both teachers and substitutes to leave online notes for one another-improving communications and continuity of instruction.
