"Titanic" meets the "Sixth Sense" in Mark Duffeys feature film screenplay, The Legend of the Gray Man"
Williams Agency (WLA) announces rights offerings for screenwriter, Mark Duffey. Duffey joined WLA earlier this year, bringing suspense to the entertainment world through his new screenplay, The Legend of the Gray Man. Mrs. Williams, literary agent for the author, says, Mark understands what lovers of suspense want and he knows how to deliver it."
Set in Pawley's Island, SC, The Legend of the Gray Man is based loosely on an old Pawley's Island ghost tale. The Gray Man comes to those facing the scathe of a destructive hurricane. His message is clear and can only mean one thing - you must get out now! The tale of the Gray Man resurrects every year toward the end of summer, but his story is spoken amongst the locals all year long. Some tell of seeing the appearance of a man" dressed in gray rain gear when a hurricane is impending.
The central character, Roger McAllister, lives with his wife, Sarah, daughters, Debra and Sally, and mother-in-law, Olive. Roger, a family man type, owns and runs a local lumber/hardware store. The McAllisters live an ordinary life, but that changes when their lives are in danger of fatal destruction. Roger, a nonbeliever (of the legend), but questions the legend after a life-threatening experience and view of the paranormal.
Williams Agency is marketing The Legend of Gray Man as paranormal suspense, describing Duffeys new creation as comparable to the paranormal suspense that Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment brought to the Sixth Sense (SpyGlass Entertainment), while giving the dramatic effects and tone of Titanic (Twentieth Century Fox and Paramount Pictures).
