Mail4ce puts Overweight E-Mail on a Diet
Mail4ce provides 40 % savings on e-Mail server storage and bandwidth utilization by compressing all inbound e-mail attachments
Toronto, Canada, Tuesday, December 01, 2002. Mail4ce has announced the availability of the Mail4ce E-Mail Compression Suite.
The backbone of Mail4ce Compression Suite, Mail4ce Gateway, is a new product not currently offered by any other e-mail compression application provider. More effective at reducing e-mail related server storage and network traffic than individually installed client compression options, Mail4ce Compression Gateway compresses large incoming e-mail attachments before they enter your network, leaving valuable network resources available for other tasks.
When used together, the Mail4ce Gateway and Mail4ce Client are transparent to the end user and provide immediate relief to stressed corporate networks and e-mail servers.
With the steady growth in the number of e-mail messages that users receive on a daily basis and the increase in files sizes, we believe that all inbound e-mail attachments should be compressed before they enter the corporate network to conserve bandwidth on expensive WAN links and reduce the ever increasing server storage and backup window sizes." said Joe DaSilva, VP, Mail4ce.
The Mail4ce Gateway is e-mail server independent therefore e-mail servers such as Exchange, Notes and POP are fully supported. The Mail4ce Gateway runs on Windows NT 4.0 Server and Windows 2000 Server and is .NET Server ready. The Mail4ce Client is installed as an Add-In to Outlook 97, 98, 2000 and XP e-mail clients.
Since Mail4ce uses a standard ZIP format, users who do not have the Mail4ce Client installed can still read their attachments with 3rd party compression utilities.
