Independent Film 'The Gatekeeper Increases Its Award Winning Pace

The powerful independent film entitled The Gatekeeper has received nine film festival awards to date. John Carlos Freys heavy hitting drama about the underbelly of the U.S. Mexico border and the seldom seen world of human trafficking has swept film festivals in the months of October and November.
'The Gatekeeper was selected as the opening night film for the International Hispanic Film Festival (IHFF) in Palm Springs, CA where it was screened for an audience of over 600 people. IHFF honored 'The Gatekeeper with the 'Best Film merit as well as recognizing cast members, Michelle Agnew, Anne Betancourt, and Joel Brooks with 'Distinguished Performance Awards. 'The Gatekeeper also walked away with the 'Audience Choice award for best feature film at IHFF.
Al Vasquez, IHFF founder said, The awards are a testimony to the quality of the film as well as its timely subject matter."
'The Gatekeeper grabbed another honor at the Winslow International Film Festival (WIFF) in late October. The jury at WIFF honored the film with the 'Rialto Award. This award is given to the best full length narrative film. The awards were given out by festival director, Jennifer Lee, at the famous Posada Hotel in Winslow, Arizona.
Finally 'The Gatekeeper nabbed the 'Best Film honor in the 'Latin Series at the Festival of Festivals (FOF) in Cathedral City, CA. FOF featured over 150 films from around the world and screened the projects at the revamped Mary Pickford Theater in downtown Cathedral City.
'The Gatekeepers timely themes and no-nonsense approach to story telling has won favor with audiences and film festival juries across the country. It has also received endorsement and support from organizations such as Amnesty International, Peter Scheys -The Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law, The National Association of Latino Independent Producers, Organization Latinos Unidos as well as Hispanic Chambers of Commerce and Universities across the country.
