Musical Tribute to Veterans Is Moving The Nation To Tears and Salutes

A song by collaborators Linda Oatman High and Donna Upson is moving Americans to tears and salutes. "Stand Up for the Veteran," a five minute tribute song to America's military veterans, is being played at meetings of Vietnam Veterans, World War II reunions, Veterans' Hospitals, and other varied venues.

Author Linda Oatman High and musician Donna Upson, both of Pennsylvania, have teamed to create the most well-received patriotic song in American history. The daughters of Korean War Army vets, High and Upson collaborated on "Stand Up for the Veteran," a five-minute tribute song, and the reactions have been astounding. From listeners in Veterans' Hospitals to American Legion halls to Vietnam Rolling Thunder biker events, the patriotic song's audiences have been moved to tears and salutes, flag-waving and cheers. Currently unpublished and recorded only by Upson on the pair's independent CD, the duo has announced that the song is now being made available to major recording artists and industry professionals, in hopes that a big-name performer might record it. "Willie Nelson is our first choice," says High. "Donna and I can both imagine hearing Willie's voice on this song. Also, Blake Shelton has a copy of the demo. We're excited to have all of America hear the song, and to honor the unsung heroes who fight for our freedom. It's time that we say 'thank you.'"
The song's lyrics include veterans of World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars, the Gulf War, and those now serving America.
"I sobbed as I wrote the lyrics," High admits, and her collaborator agrees.
"I had to stop crying before I could record," Upson reports.
