Prolonging Television Commercials via TV2Box
Hungary, 30 November 2002 - In the current turbulent times both advertisers and television channels are looking for improvement of their advertising effectivity. A major new approach is to create synergy between media by cross media advertising and integrated marketing.
TV2Box offers a solution here that connects television commercials with their background information, this way TV2Box prolongs the duration of television commercials beyond their broadcast.
How does it work? TV2Box starts with displaying a TV2Box logo during the broadcast of a television commercial, which means that viewers are stimulated to select Teletext.
By selecting Teletext, background information about the commercial is displayed in an embedded (sc)rolling textbox on page 100 of Teletext (TV-Windows Box). The information shown in this Box is fully synchronized with the television broadcast.
The final step is that from page 100 viewers can "freeze" the current commercial by pushing a colored Fastext button from their remote control. The result is that page 100 disappears and only the TV-Windows Box remains. From that moment on, the viewers are watching the commercial together with its background information.
After the commercial has finished, the background information remains available for an unlimited period of time, viewers can even return to it later, this way advertisers are able to create permanent communication channels with their target group.
TV2Box is based on TV-Windows, a new generation analog Teletext that combines the television program (video) with a number of Teletext lines (the actual TV-Window). TV-Windows superimposes background information in a (sc)rolling subtitle field.
Any standard Teletext television-set can display the TV2Box or TV-Windows overlays and for interactive applications viewers can respond with their ordinary television remote control.
