New Biometrics Device Remedies High Cost and Security Issues Concerned with Signature Retrieval.

onClick's Digipad is a signature capture device that electronically binds and verifies a signature. A great tool for any industry that works with legal documents.

Houston, TX--November 2002--New advancements in signature capturing has paved the way for security and convenience to co-exist with the development of Digipad. The device captures, binds and verifies handwritten signatures electronically using the concept of biometrics. Ideal for industries whose business relies heavily on documentations, Digipad reduces the time and expense associated with retrieving and distributing papers requiring signatures.

The technology integration company, onClick Corporation, has released Digipad as part of the biometrics line. Using unique bio-specific characteristics to assure a persons identity, onClicks biometric products are utilizing current technology to greatly increase productivity. With Digipad, the simple collection of a signature is now so advanced that it makes pen and paper" a sign of the past.

Digipad increases security tenfold by reading beyond the signature. The speed and pressure at which it is written is considered into a process of determining if this particular signature coincides with the unique handwriting of the individual. This process is instrumental in any business where endorsing signatures is critical and client complacency a must.

Besides the considerable benefits for the consumer, Digipad is immensely helpful towards the reduction of costs for the business. Insurance industries, for example, can spend upwards of fifty thousand dollars annually on paper storage. Considering the costs involved with the sending and printing of documents, Digipad could eliminate nearly all expenses associated with everyday business transactions.

The bundled software includes an ActiveX control that facilitates the simple integration of Digipad. The use of BioAPI technology allows the independent software to be interfaced with Java or Lotus Notes and most plug-ins, such as Microsoft Office and Acrobat Reader. Unlike DLL software, ActiveX mixes well with the Internet and PC applications, and integrates with host-based systems such as AS/400 and RS/6000. This also means that it will accommodate any upgrades that will undoubtedly arise.

What makes Digipad attractive is the binding feature associated with the original document. Any alterations done after electronic capture would consequently remove the signature from the document, preventing tampering and adjustments without consent.

Beyond the basic point of sale devices, Digipad offers so much with just one product that it advances the signature capture concept to a whole new level. Bob Miller, vice president and principal of Spartan Insurance, touts the benefits of Digipad as being the single most important tool in helping to reduce the costs of generating and storing documents. Spartan Insurance has implemented the digital signature process since the Texas Department of Insurance approved digital signature as binding contract for the insurance industry. There is no doubt it would demonstrate a significant increase in productivity and profits," says Wasif Khan, President & CEO of onClick Corporation.
