Chesterfield MO., November 15, 2002: eko systems, inc. and Unibased Systems Architecture (USA) announced today an agreement in principle relating to a marketing partnership whereby the companies will represent the products of each in the dynamic perioperative surgical and anesthesia software applications marketplace.
eko systems has developed and successfully implemented a comprehensive perioperative charting system which allows anesthesia providers to capture all critical elements of a patients clinical path from pre-operative assessment through recovery. The Frontiers system is currently deployed in more than 180 operating rooms, Post-Anesthesia Care Units (PACUs) and related clinical venues. No vendor has deployed such a system so successfully on such a large scale. The result is a seamless flow of clinical and billing information from patient registration through billing office.
USA is a provider of OR scheduling and management systems to the HIT market, and is currently ranked first as a HIT vendor as well as best product in this niche by the independent consulting firm KLAS. USA also is highly ranked in the market of patient access management and enterprise scheduling. According to Wanda H. French, RN, BSN, CNOR, Marketing Director -- Surgery Management Products for USA, the FrontiersTM system provides a key component to the already substantial USA periOperative Resource Management System (ORMS). USA is pleased to be joining forces with eko."
The first joint project for eko and USA will be the mutual client, Inova Health System, where USA was recently awarded a contract for ORMS. The project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2003. Larry Covington, President of USA, indicates the Inova award, combined with other recent awards from large IDN organizations, points out the strength of ORMS in this market. While USA is relatively new to this area, its product success represents the solid engineering and integration that went into the development. USA is looking forward to working with eko to incorporate FrontiersTM in the same fashion."
This partnership provides both companies the opportunity to offer tightly integrated and comprehensive ORMS
and clinical information management solutions to the Perioperative area of hospitals. The fact that USA is the number one in their market segment and eko currently has the single largest and most successful implementation in the country of systems in our space, this represents for great potential for both companies and ultimately our clients." says Heather Valentine, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for eko systems.
