Mind Your Own BizNiche!

'A BizNiche is a personalized Business Niche. It's that thing you do because you are you. It's the entrepreneurial idea you discover when you mix courage and creativity; passion and personality; reality and resources. In your own business, or working for someone else, a BizNiche is a unique expression of your talent, your spirit, and your ideas, channeled into opportunities that create success.'

What are you doing today? Minding your own BizNiche? That's right. Biz-Niche. It's not a typo. And it 'ain't nobody's business', either.

Conditions in today's job market suggest a new book by Mary N. Squire, Mind Your Own BizNiche! (Writer's Club Press, May 2002), might be an answer to prayer 'for such a time as this'. Before 9/11/01 most working Americans were already unhappy with their jobs. '76% of the working class in this country are not attached to the lifework they desire'. (Gallup Management Journal, Spring, 2001). A more recent study reported some improvement with 49% of the workforce dislike their jobs. Which still translates to a workforce with a 50% 'miserability' factor. According to an article in USA Today, recent events have forced many Americans into "wrenching and profound shifts in their work priorities and aspirations." Additionally, the current unemployment rate, holding at 5.9%, represents 8.3 million Americans in search of opportunities for economic and personal fulfillment.

" BizNiche ." The Biz" part may give the impression that Squire's book was written for people who want to start their own business or become self-employed. It is - but not exclusively. "A lot of people are already in business" - for themselves" - without even realizing it. Think about it. What is "business"? It's an exchange of goods or services for compensation, wouldnt you agree? Then, guess what? Any time you work on a job, you are in "business!""
"But, it's not my company," you say. Doesn't matter. It's your time, isn't it? Your talent? Your work? Maybe a few of your ideas? Even if you don't "own" the company, every time you punch that clock; show up at the office; endorse your paycheck, etc., you "exchange...services for compensation". Indeed, you are in "business," and if not for yourself, then for whom?

~~~~~
Everyone is in business for himself, for he is selling his services, labor, or ideas. Until one realizes that this is true, he will not take conscious charge of his life, and will always be looking outside of himself for guidance.
Mrs. Squire plans to reach out through her book, website (www.MyBizNiche.com), and motivational seminars to spread the message that "You don't have to choose between financial success and personal fulfillment; between self-employment and self-expression; between employment and enjoyment. Not if you have a BizNiche. If your ultimate goals include self-fulfillment, a rich and rewarding lifestyle, and turning your dreams into reality, don't expect 'business' ownership, or a 'job', to satisfy you. What you really need is a BizNiche. Her vision is to "share this information with individuals who are unemployed; under-employed; welfare-to-work participants; people who want to change careers; college graduates; creative and talented people; people who feel they have nothing to offer; skilled and non-skilled individuals; and anyone else who dares to pursue their dream!"
'This is not a traditional 'business start-up book.' It is a guide to the creative process of self-discovery, personal inventory, and affirmation that will help you lay a foundation for BizNiche success.' The book contains 13 inspirational and informative chapters, which include true stories of BizNiche concepts at work. "Be careful!," she warns, "This may look like a book, but its actually much more than that. Its a powerful tool that may soon ignite the flames of your passions; encouraging you to start brainstorming, believing, and building momentum for your dreams (again?)."
