At this time, Skybird Radio is mainly a 24/7 Internet-based radio station playing an extreme wide variety of music and talk shows. Skybird Radio's theme is "None of the Hits, All of the Time." Skybird Radio's Internet feed is sponsored by POP4.NET (http://www.pop4.net/). Skybird Radio also hopes to broadcast on LPFM locally to the Marquette, Michigan community.
FNL, otherwise known as "Friday Night Live" can be heard on Skybird Radio's Internet feed and rebroadcast live on C-Band satellite through Dana Pretzer's (http://www.danapretzer.com/) CBANDTALK Satellite Network on AMC7/GE7 transponder 2, 7.5 Wideband audio, as well as being rebroadcast live by other listeners to make sure we have enough bandwidth to accommodate the listeners.
FNL airs on Friday night from 9:00 PM to 12 Midnight. Gary Bourgois has been hosting FNL since the beginning, long before Skybird Radio was even a gleam in his eye.
FNL is touted to be the longest running technical talk show, having its roots in satellite radio since the early days of satellite broadcasting. Just about anything geek-related are fair game on FNL. The talk ranges from the FNL tech-related news at 9:00 PM, to satellite news and talk with Mike Kohl from Global Communications (http://www.global-cm.net/), at 10:00 PM, as well as other computer-related and tech gadget news and information. FNL includes a listener call in period.
For one hour before FNL, the FNL Pregame Show presents listeners with many weird and strange songs that Gary Bourgois has collected over the years.
One can expect just about anything from 5:00 PM onward on Fridays, sometimes even a Jean Shepherd show.
Listeners can join in via their favorite IRC chat client on irc.skybird.ca in the #skybirdradio chat room sponsored by Kevin Lee (http://www.ols.to/)
After FNL at Midnight, Skybird Radio presents the Old Time Radio Weekend Marathon, remotely presented by JimmyLee and Bambi (their home pages on http://www.jim-fran.com/) and sponsored by Bobby's Digital Old Time Radio (http://www.bobbysotr.com/). The Weekend Marathon continues throughout the weekend and ends at 6:00 AM Monday morning.
Skybird Radio is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers.
