Knowledge Management Solutions, Inc. demonstrates interoperability of newly unveiled KMx platform at the ADL Plugfest 7 in Orlando, Florida.

Linthicum, MD -- Knowledge Management Solutions, Inc. (KMSI), a leader in web-based Knowledge Management Solutions , demonstrated KMx, their next-generation, globally scalable, Advanced Distributed Learning Platform that provides an integrated environment for developing, managing, and delivering performance support documentation and learning content during the I/ITSC conference on December 3rd,2002 at the Orlando Convention Center.

KMSI demonstrated that KMx implements SCORM requirements for a Learning Management System (LMS) including support of the SCORM Application Program Interface (API) and the SCORM Data Model. Additionally KMSI demonstrated the ability of KMx to fully automate the import, development and export of a SCORM conformant content package without any user intervention, including the capabilities of its' offline eLearning player that is included with SCORM content packages output from the KMx platform. In addition to sharing content between LMS systems as SCORM prescribes, KMSI also demonstrated the capability of KMx to share content in many different contexts. KMx enables material prepared for an on-line training course to be quickly incorporated into a technical manual, an instructors guide for use in the classroom, or provide performance support in an on-line knowledge base.

KMSI has embraced the SCORM and the vision of ADL to provide access to the highest quality education and training, tailored to individual needs, delivered cost-effectively anywhere and anytime," said Jack E. Lee, KMSIs President and CEO. We see well beyond the immediate and obvious benefits of the SCORM. Maintainability and lifecycle support of learning content will be greatly enhanced by the cooperation of Government and industry through the ADL initiative. The benefits derived from the ADL initiative to develop e-learning standardization also apply to traditional learning content and documentation. Standards take the guesswork out of technology development and reduce risk for the developers. This reduction of risk will lead to lower costs for technology providers to deliver high quality software and services to meet the increasing demand for training and education."

KMSI has entered the market at a time when standards are mature enough to design and implement a platform that truly provides a blended solution for employee training and performance support, within the context of meeting business objectives. KMx provides these capabilities, while reducing the cost associated with development, delivery and maintenance of training and performance support materials.

The Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) defines a Web-based learning Content Aggregation Model and Run-Time Environment for learning objects. The SCORM is a collection of specifications adapted from multiple sources to provide a comprehensive suite of e-learning capabilities that enable interoperability, accessibility and reusability of Web-based learning content.

ADL Plugfests are a series of events to validate and document progress in meeting the collective requirements for reuse, adaptability, interoperability, cost-effectiveness and global access of the SCORM specifications.
