AMERICA SAYS HELLO TO GOODBYE GIRL FRIDAY
Band Chosen for C-Note 2002 Best of New York" festival

NEW YORK...12/2/02...With radio play spanning the nation, critical acclaim for debut album Mr. and Mrs., and high-profile performance invites from New York to Nashville to Los Angeles, New York City-based jazz/rock band Goodbye Girl Friday prepares for their set as part of the C-Note 2002 Best of New York" Festival at 8pm on Thursday, December 5. The festival at the popular club, which lasts December 4-7, will showcase nightly a select few of the citys most talented rising stars, and also several well-known acts, like blues/rock guitar legend G.E. Smith (former Saturday Night Live band leader, former guitarist for Bob Dylan, Hall and Oates) and celebrated singer/songwriter Taylor Barton, whos latest album recently received three stars from Rolling Stone.

I just wanted to put together a festival to represent what I feel are the best acts in New York," explains festival founder Mike McHugh. The bands selected are a representation of what is the moving force in the New York music scene."

Goodbye Girl Friday is keyboardist/singer/songwriter David Sherman, bassist Dan Grennes, and drummer Andy Sanesi. Building a respected reputation for their sophisticated fusion of traditional and modern styles, they have been all over the country this fall, both figuratively and literally. They were invited to showcase in the Nashville New Music Conference (http://www.2nmc.com), performed in Los Angeles, and are also garnering substantial radio play from Alaska to Florida on more than fifty stations (see list below). Their refreshingly innovative album Mr. and Mrs., marked with honest, thought-provoking lyrics and intricate, pervasive melodies, has also captured the attention of many critics and industry professionals. A few notable quotes:

No matter the misery conveyed by the lyrics, the analog keyboard sound and the swinging rhythm section wrap around your eardrums like a thick blanket, making the harshest medicine go down like hot chocolate. Mixed metaphors aside, Goodbye Girl Friday makes pop music with heart."
- Michael Toland, High Bias

"(Goodbye Girl Friday) manage to make sophisticated music that's also appealing to those who just want to listen to the lyrics and groove to the beat."
-George Graham, Music Director WVIA Radio, Scranton PA

On December 9, Goodbye Girl Friday will visit WVIA in Scranton, PA for a recording session for George Grahams Homegrown Music" program.
