Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe introduces low power PLL for high speed WLAN

London, December 5th 2002. Fujitsu has recently introduced a low power PLL (Phase Locked Loop) solution for Wireless LAN, the MB15F76UL. This dual frequency synthesiser (IF+RF) is ideally suited for every WLAN standard, particularly IEEE 802.11a+b, due to its RF operating frequencies ranging from 2GHz to 6GHz.

London, December 5th 2002. Fujitsu has recently introduced a low power PLL (Phase Locked Loop) solution for Wireless LAN, the MB15F76UL. This dual frequency synthesiser (IF+RF) is ideally suited for every WLAN standard, particularly IEEE 802.11a+b, due to its RF operating frequencies ranging from 2GHz to 6GHz.

With the market demands for ever-decreasing power consumption in PLLs, this new product features a typical supply current consumption of 6.2mA at 3V in RF range, with a supply voltage range of 2.7V to 3.6V. This allows the MB15F76UL to provide maximum operation times even at a high operation frequency without degrading the performance.

In addition, the charge pump output current is programmable between the limits 1.5mA to 6mA, and the device features low phase noise and fast lockup.

Housed in the ultra small 20pin BCC (Bump Chip Carrier) package measuring just 3.4mm x 3.6mm x 0.55mm(typ), the MB15F76UL offers a 30% reduction in chip size in comparison with the previous generation.

In order to aid system design Fujitsu is also offering development kits with the device.
