VIC THRILL RELEASES DEBUT FULL-LENGTH, CE-5
FORMER LEAD SINGER OF THE BOGMEN
A CIRCUS CLONE RECORDS RELEASE
AVAILABLE NOW ON CD BABY AND IN INDIE RECORD SHOPS
...(CE-5) is a world with an irresistible dance beat as you fall through the trap door of sanity and into the world of psychedelic bliss... A modern day answer to Alice in Wonderland...I cant stop listening to this one." [CD-Baby Editors Pick]
(BROOKLYN, NY -- December 4, 2002)-- The highly anticipated first full-length album from electro-trash ringleader, Vic Thrill, is available now on Circus Clone Records. Produced by Robbie Adams (U2, Moby, Smashing Pumpkins), CE-5 is a multi-layered, yet seamless blend of joyful punk spirit, and trashy electronica complete with tribal undertones, providing a unique and hypnotic listening experience.
Vic Thrill, former lead singer of The Bogmen, Billy Campion (Arista Records), started his band with guitarist Anthony Rizzo, formerly of Garden Variety (Gern Blandsten Records)- two established touring acts with multiple full-length major and indie releases. After the demise of both bands, and with much unfinished business, the two camps fused their exotic alternative and indie punk into the electronic realm. The result is CE-5, or close encounters of the 5th kind.
According to NEWSDAY'S Kevin Amorim, CE-5s Computer-manipulated indie rock is as catchy and groovy as ever -- a vicarious thrill." There is a new sound on virtually every track from the very beginning up until the intensely climactic ending. The psycho-electro intro of Hummingbird Pneumonia," leads into the disco-punk Wailing Wall," ending with the starving-artist anthem Zero Odds." Even when Vic is singing about local serial killers (The Williamsburg Strangler") or an air-born orgy of dragonflies (Afrological"), the boogie is infectious. Indie music zine MISH MASH described CE-5 as ... downright unbelievable--the ultimate in deconstruction rock. Vic Thrill is either musical genius or madman, or maybe just a great deal of both."
Two years after working together on The Bogmens Closed Captioned Radio", Vic bumped into (producer/mixer/engineer) Robbie Adams at a restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. At the time, Vic found himself surrounded by a group of about 15 very talented friends (brought together by the music) that were willing to work together in launching Vic Thrill. Robbie soon joined that group. Vic had a formidable recording facility by that time and the band needed to get serious about a record. They recorded a couple of tracks together and it was Adams that then took the initiative to make a record based solely on his belief in the music. The band was flat broke and would need money to cover costs. Someone recommended putting a donations link up on the site where people could contribute money and get thanked on the record. Immediately the donations came rolling in. The recommended amount was $20/ea but soon checks for $50, $350, $500, $750 and then WHAM-O, an anonymous check for $6780! In just a couple of weeks, the band had over $10,000 in the bank to put towards the record. This record was paid for by the fans! Just last week a second anonymous check came in for $4,000.
For three uninterrupted months, inspired by the fans support and a whopping ANONYMOUS check, they recorded CE-5", taken from The CE-5 Initiative of Dr. Steven M. Greer, Director of The Center For The Study Of Extraterrestrial Intelligence (CSETI). Vic had contacted the renowned ufologist to volunteer as Musical Ambassador To Earth for his Ambassadors to the Universe Program. They were looking for skilled professionals to help establish peaceful, diplomatic relations with Extraterrestrial Intelligence in the case of communications and/or a landing party of sorts, so I sent him an email asking if hed like a musical representative, claiming to have the right disposition for such a thing, whilst pointing out the universality of music. A month later he was on stage with us at the Bowery Ballroom giving a full on video presentation of 1st hand and eye-witnessed accounts of ET activity on Earth and in our atmosphere to a crowd of half buzzed hipsters!"
Vic Thrill live shows are always extraordinary, ranging from hightech, multimedia, electronic-circus to stripped down, trashy basement affairs. TITAN MAGAZINE recently described a Vic Thrill live performance As a multimedia showcase of hypnotically visual sounds." Front man Vic Thrill has been described as everything from Fred Astaire on crack" to a pager on vibrate."
Someone call the future and tell 'em Im coming."
