Violence by an intimate accounts for about 21% of violent crime experienced by women and about 2% of the violence experienced by men. On average each year, women experienced 572,032 violent victimization's at the hands of an intimate, and 48,983 incidents committed against men.

In fact, 22% of divorces in middle-class families are caused by violence in the home. Domestic violence still continues to be a growing concern by society, the powers that be, and our very own friends. Most people today know of at least," one person either in an abusive relationship or a upsetting one. Usually, however when confronting a friend the effective person tends to justify the abusers actions. This is a common attribute in all abusive relationships. A lot of times the person wants to get out of the relationship or can at least see that it is not an optimum situation but feels remorse, love or even sorrow for wanting to leave and therefore continues to endure the situation.
