Two Sisters from a Family of 11 Create a Gift with Character

Two sisters from a family of 11 have recently co-authored and published a creative gift book-DESSERTS with Character. Originally intended to preserve their family traditions, DESSERTS with Character evolved into more than a traditional dessert book. Through warm messages and soothing photographs, this coffee-table book inspires the gift recipient to be her best.

Austin, Texas--Dec. 2002--Two sisters from a Texas family of 11 have recently co-authored and published a creative gift book--DESSERTS with Character. Originally intended to preserve their family traditions, DESSERTS with Character evolved to more than a traditional dessert book.

As its title suggests, this coffee-table book not only fills the tummy with 50 plus easy-to-make recipes, but it also fills the human spirit with 50 plus character-building messages, with themes of integrity, courage, honesty, and persistence. The sisters--Frances Blazek and Joyce Carter--crafted these messages based on values their parents instilled in them while growing up on a farm.

Roughly half of the original pictures capture desserts with character, including a slice of Upside-Down Pineapple Cake literally upside down, while the remaining photos are of non-food objects--a smiling baby and medals for rewarding good work. The authors took all the photographs in Texas, their home state.
