Outsource your grammar and spell check.

More educators and employers are screaming about the lack of spelling and grammatical ability in students and workers. But what do you do if you're just not good at it?

It is an age old problem. You know good spelling is important, but you just can't spell to save your life. Spell checkers can do a certain amount, but they can't catch anything. So the brilliant things you need to say get lost because the reader cannot understand.

It's a problem that is becoming more prevalent as the short hand used in internet chatrooms becomes the prevailing method of communication in the real world. Teachers are finding high school students that are using abreviations such as "sk8t" or "woz" in their formal essays.

The long answer is to sit forever with a copy of a Dictionary or Strunk and White's "The Elements of Style" at hand but more people are taking up the easier option and using freelance editors.

Nicole Murphy of Your Best Work sees a great need to meet this demand from business people, students and writers. "Just pick up your local newspaper or flyer from a small business and see how many spelling and grammatical errors there are", she said. "It's incredibly hard to take people seriously when they are misspelling or misusing basic words."

Some editing services are very expensive, but there are good editors out there charging reasonable prices. Nicole says, "It's worth paying a little to ensure you are presenting the best work you are capable of to your boss, teacher or potential customer."
