Star Trek: Nemesis Launches Stars Second Career
When Star Trek: Nemesis opens Friday, December 13, it will open the door for a second career for one of the franchises stars.
As the Star Ship Enterprise beams into theaters Friday, December 13, for the tenth installment of the Star Trek film franchise, it opens the door for the launching of the directorial career of fan favorite cast member Michael Dorn.
The film, Star Trek: Nemesis," is directed by Stuart Baird, and features Dorn reprising his lovable alien warrior character Lieutenant Worf, which he played on the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation" and its spin-off Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." Dorns movie contract includes a provision for future directorial work.
In an interview with SCI FI Wire, a news source affiliated with the Sci Fi Channel, Dorn explained that in negotiations with Paramount Pictures for his appearance in Nemesis," he received a guarantee to direct on the Star Trek prequel television series Enterprise" starring Scott Bakula who originally jumped to fame on the series Quantum Leap.
Im very psyched about it," said Dorn about helming for the television series. Its a terrific show."
Dorn previously directed Deep Space Nine," V.I.P" starring Pamela Anderson, and the sitcom pilot Through the Fire" starring fellow Star Trek alum Marina Sirtis. He is attached to direct and costar in the sci-fi thriller television movie Hero Before Dawn" starring Rikki Lee Travolta.
This script was written with Michael in mind," says Travolta. Michael is a brilliant actor and has an amazing directorial mind."
At SciFi.com, actress Chase Masterson of Deep Space Nine" predicts great results of Dorns Hero Before Dawn."
Hes overall really great to work with, because hes so easy going," says Masterson who has herself graduated to regular starring roles and production credits for science fiction television movies, a number of which for the Sci Fi Channel through Creative Light Entertainment.
Scott Zakarin at Creative Light, Michael and Shawn Piller, and Peter DeLuise are some of the top production minds in the science fiction genre," praises Travolta. With Michael at the helm, I expect 'Hero Before Dawn to be in their league. He has that kind of talent"
