San Jose, CA -- For Immediate Release
Argh, mateys, what type of sea captain would ye wish to be? A wealthy merchant, with prestige and riches? Or a ruthless pirate, fighting for every ounce of gold ye can steal? Yer decisions will shape yer destiny...
Such choices abound in Pirate Junk™, an homage of sorts to the classic 1980's game, Taipan. Those familiar with Taipan know that it involved buying and selling items to win. It had a fun look, an interesting plot, and garnered millions of devoted fans. It is still thought of very fondly, and has become the inspiration for http://www.piratejunk.com">Pirate Junk™.
Pirate Junk™ is an entirely Web-based, multi-level interactive role-playing game. It features an action-adventure storyline with rich "time period" graphics. It takes the player into the exotic Orient of the South China Sea in the early 1860s.
"The game play is filled with exceptional detail, with many subtle levels, each easy to play, yet very challenging in the overall scheme. The game is designed to adapt and evolve according to each player, and to every decision made. There are "Karma" factors, cause and effect, and reputation points to consider. Plus, there's the financial aspect, buying and selling commodities at different ports, and travel dangers at sea. With all the different levels, game play is always fresh. Additionally, the Pirate Junk™ team will regularly add new scenarios into the game engine, to ensure that no matter how many hours anyone plays, they will not get bored, or learn any patterns," explains Stephen Oachs, creator and production manager.
Pirate Junk™ has another aspect that marks it above the crowd of online games. "We took educational elements into consideration during production and have incorporated historic research, both facts and folklore, into the storyline in order to keep game play integrity as parallel to the South China Sea in 1860 as possible," said Oachs. "We've taken a classic game concept, given it a shake, and tailored it to the Internet, making it easily available and playable without the need for a download. We're very excited about Pirate Junk™, and invite every game enthusiast to give it a try."
After almost nine months, Pirate Junk™ has now launched, and is available to the public. Take a look at screenshots, read all about it, at http://www.piratejunk.com">www.piratejunk.com.
