COLUMBITECH DELIVERS SECURE WIRELESS ACCESS TO SWEDISH PARLIAMENT

Wireless security leader provides solid encryption and trustworthy connection for remote applications to Swedish Parliament

STOCKHOLM-December 10, 2002-Wireless security software developer, Columbitech, today announced that the Swedish Parliament has implemented Columbitech's security solution for secure wireless data communication via mobile devices. By implementing Columbitech's solution, a majority of the members working remotely can access e-mail, databases and internal news through their GPRS-enabled phones and integrated PDA phones, and thereby stay up to date independent of location.

"This project has been a great challenge for the Parliament since we have high security demands and many users are not familiar with this kind of technology and services," said Lennart Blecher, System Integrator at the Parliament of Sweden. "Columbitech's solution offers us a high degree of security and best-of use from a user perspective."

The solution consists of three elements, which include an application developed by the IT department at the Parliament, a Lotus Domino Everyplace Access Server from IBM connected to the Parliament's information infrastructure and Columbitech's Wireless Suite to secure the connection. With Columbitech's component, security is highly prioritized and all data traffic is encrypted to guarantee no unauthorized access. Columbitech has also delivered a configuration service that the Parliament has integrated into their Lotus Notes administration, which enables the IT department to configure all mobile devices by sending one short message service (SMS) with all the necessary details for new configurations.

"To have a major government agency such as the Swedish Parliament as a customer is a giant step for Columbitech," said Pontus Bergdahl, CEO of Columbitech. "Their selection of our product validates the demand for wireless technology is growing in varied industries and security concerns are a priority."

Security continues to be a major concern when equipping the remote workforce with wireless solutions. Swedish Parliament's decision to use Columbitech's technology for security confirms the need for wireless-optimized solutions. Columbitech's solution is optimized for wireless rather than wireline use and provides strong security, high performance and user convenience to wireless network users.
