Milton Keynes, UK -- 10 December 2002 - Milton Keynes-based Alphatec Software - which provides consultancy services and custom-written software applications for the cheque clearing systems of major banks -- has secured its second major listing of the year amongst the UK's best technology companies.
Alphatec was listed 41st in the Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 to follow up its listing in the Tech Track 100 league earlier this year. Alphatec recorded compound annual growth of just under 95% on sales between 1998 and 2001 and was one of only a handful of software developers listed in the prestigious Sunday Times league table.
The company provides highly specialised service and support and a portfolio of unique data management software products to the cheque, cash and on-line payment industries. It has a service and support team almost 30 strong. Its team of experienced financial industry operatives includes business analysts, live-support services staff, client/server and mainframe designers and a carefully selected set of some of the financial software industry's most experienced programmers.
Fast Track is an Oxford-based research, publishing and events company that tracks the most dynamic unquoted companies in the United Kingdom. It also produces the Profit Track 100 list based on profit growth, the Tech Track 100 league table of young technology companies and the Top Track 100, which ranks Britain's largest unquoted companies in the country by sales.
All companies listed in the Fast Track 100 had to be registered in the UK, unquoted and ultimate holding companies rather than subsidiaries. They also had to forecast an increase in sales from 2001 to 2002 and be making a profit and employ more than 10 staff in 2001.
Operations Director Grant Browning -- who founded Alphatec in 1996 -- was delighted to make the top flight, commenting: "The listing represents the pinnacle of our year's incredible achievements. In a turbulent economic climate, Alphatec has remained rock solid with enviable growth in revenue, profits and head count.
"We remain as committed as ever to working in partnership with our clients to reach our goals in 2003. As usual, none of the on-going success, would be possible without the dedication, commitment and loyalty of our excellent team and the enthusiasm they all have for driving technology in the financial processing industry forward."
