SAN FRANCISCO, CA / MIAMI, FL (PRWEB) December 12, 2002 -- Classic Foods, Inc. maker of Kettle Classic Potato Chips, was selected as a finalist and awarded a trophy for Best Snack Food of the Western Hemisphere" by the Americas Food and Beverage show December 4, 2002 at the World Trade Center Miami.

The award was presented to Florencio Cuétara, President of Classic Foods. We feel tremendously honored to be nominated and chosen for this award. I would like to recognize our employees, partners and especially our customers who made this award possible for us."

A special ceremony took place to present the "First Annual Americas Food and Beverage Awards" to the "Best in the Western Hemisphere" for the following categories: Best Non-Alcoholic Beverage; Best Salsa/Sauce/Condiment; Best Candy & Confectionary; and Best Snack Food. The World Trade Center Miami and a panel of distinguished judges including Linda Gassenheimer, author of Low-Carb Meals in Minutes" selected four winners and several finalists in each category.

The Food and Beverage Trade Show is one of the largest exhibitions in the Americas. It welcomes exhibitors from 25 countries, buyers from 85 countries and in 2001 generated $505 million in sales. Over $1.4 trillion is spent annually on food and beverage purchases with export sales expected to double by 2007.
