DEXTERITY SOFTWARE LAUNCHES NEW HYBRID ARCADE-PUZZLE GAME
Dexterity Software has released Stockboy, a new interactive PC/Windows game developed by California-based Hamumu Software. Part logic puzzle game, part classic arcade game, Stockboy combines elements from both genres to provide a hybrid gaming experience.
Gameplay involves guiding the ambitious stockboy character through 150 challenging levels. Each level features a unique goal, which may include delivering objects to specific locations, achieving a particular score, or clearing the game board of a critter infestation. Some levels require careful planning and step-by-step execution, while other levels require fast arcade-style reflexes. Players earn stars as rewards for solving each puzzle, and accumulated stars can be used to unlock new game modes and other bonuses.
Featuring pre-rendered 3D art and some witty humor, Stockboy features over 20 interactive objects including bombs, pencils, ray guns, balls, barrels, teleporters, pressure pads, doors, keys, detonators, acid, shields, and more. Thirty-two types of critters also inhabit the game world, each with a unique behavior pattern. Some critters shoot energy blasts, some are toxic to touch, and others freeze objects on contact. Players can interact with critters in many ways: shoot them, dodge them, herd them, trap them, or explode them. Bonus points are awarded for chain-reaction effects, such as exploding multiple critters in sequence.
Other features include a built-in level editor, an online level archive where players can automatically download new levels, a custom music composer, additional alternate universe" levels, cheat codes, ten playable characters, three bonus subgames, a profile system to track multiple players, and an accessibility mode for colorblind players. Step-by-step tutorial levels teach the basics of play, and dozens of beginner levels are included to make the game fun for both children and adults.
Stockboy runs under Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME, and XP and requires a Pentium 200mhz with 32MB RAM and DirectX 7 or later. Players can download a free 15-level demo of Stockboy from http://www.dexterity.com.
Backed by a 60-day unconditional money-back guarantee, Stockboy is priced at $19.95 and can be ordered securely online from http://www.dexterity.com (via instant electronic delivery and/or shipped on CD-ROM).
