Sundance Film Festival: Workhouse Publicity to produce event for "The Cooler"

ContentFilm selects veteran Public Relations firm to promote film through exclusive event at 2003 Sundance Film Festival

Park City, Utah- Workhouse Publicity will produce an exclusive dinner event for the film "The Cooler" to take place at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival. Press set-up for arrivals will begin at 7:30pm. "The Cooler" is a love story about the changing fortunes of this down-at-heels loser who has made a career out of his virulent bad luck. Starring William H Macy, Alec Baldwin and Maria Bello, written by Frank Hannah & Wayne Kramer and directed by Wayne Kramer, The Cooler plies his trade on the floor of Las Vegas aging Shangri-La casino, an old-school gamblers casino," a dinosaur in the shadow of the new Strip and its theme-park attractions. Night and day, in this purgatory of bright lights and chirping slots, The Cooler drifts from table to table, his bad karma cooling one gamblers lucky streak after another. Like an inmate serving time, The Coolers been at this job for years, paying off a nasty gambling debt he owes to the Shangri-Las slippery Director of Operations, Shelly Kaplow (Alec Baldwin). But The Cooler is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. With just days left on his debt, The Cooler meets Natalie (Bello), a new cocktail waitress at the Shangri-La. They fall hard for each other, but things become complicated when The Coolers estranged son and pregnant girlfriend show up with trouble in tow. The Casino starts to lose big when The Coolers newfound love overtakes his bad luck and puts a serious crimp in his cooling abilities. Will Shelly let The Cooler go? Or will he and his goons find a way to bring The Cooler back to the tables, maybe forever? ContentFilms Edward R. Pressman and John Schmidt are executive producers. This is a closed event.
