MakeaStar.com is excited and honored to announce that Russ Regan has joined its Industry Advisory Board (IAB).
For over thirty years, Russ Regan has been discovering talent with an uncanny ear for hit songs and artists. Industry luminaries such as Elton John, Neil Diamond, Barry White, Olivia Newton-John, Beach Boys, and Alan Parsons Project all credit Regan as a major force behind their success. Always adapt to change, Regan has joined MakeaStar.coms IAB and has culminated his talents for artist discovery and promotion... Im very excited to join the MakeaStar.com family," Regan describes. I believe we have the potential to discover some great talent and put promotion back behind the artists."
Looking back through Regans career is an impressive journey through some of music industrys iconic talents.
The first song Regan promoted was Please Mr. Postman" by The Marvelettes in the 1960s. From there he promoted artists such as The Supremes, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles and Marvin Gaye -- laying the foundation for the Motown Sound." In 1966, while serving as General Manager of Loma Records, he came across a song called Thats Life." Sensing its hit potential, he gave it to Frank Sinatra to record. The song went on to become an adult contemporary standard and one of the biggest selling records of Sinatras career. When a friend needed a new name for a group called the Pendletons who had a song called Surfin," Regan thought for a moment, and changed their name to the Beach Boys.
Regan moved to Uni Records, a division of MCA, Inc. in 1967. In 1968 he signed the now legendary Neil Diamond. In 1970, when Regan heard the demo tapes of an unknown singer/songwriter, he knew that he was on to something special. That singer/songwriter was Elton John. In 1972, Regan was appointed President of 20th Century Records. With his golden ear and keen promotional skills, the hits kept coming with the likes of Barry White, The DeFranco Family, Carl Douglas, Maureen McGovern and The Alan Parsons Project.
Throughout Regans career, his focus has always been on the artist. Thats why MakeaStar.com is such a natural evolution in his ever-evolving career. With his addition to MakeaStar.coms our IAB, Regan is sure to bring a new level of industry expertise, experience and insight to MakeaStar.com. We welcome him to our family and look forward to his contribution to our artists.", said Dr. Iman Foroutan, Chairman and CEO of MakeaStar.com.
