Intercon and SMARTworks® Team to Deliver Better Way for Government to Manage Forms, Electronic Documents and Purchase Printing

Web-based System Enables Easy Access to Documents Required for Interactions with Government Entities

Rochester, N.Y. and Dayton, Ohio --December 2002-- Intercon, a provider of software tools for the automation of document and form preparation, and SMARTworks, LLC, a leader in Web solutions for print and digital communication, have signed a strategic marketing agreement which offers an open platform to manage and distribute printed and digital documents.

Under this agreement, Intercon will market and sell SMARTworks technology in conjunction with its electronic forms software, Accessible FormNet, to federal government agencies and departments.

Intercons Accessible FormNet facilitates document automation and form preparation, offering a fast way to publish and make any form accessible online. SMARTworks will provide the Web platform on which these Accessible Forms will reside. Leveraging other capabilities of SMARTworks, agencies can manage customized print and digital material, as well as fully integrate with their print service providers. It provides increased control over costs, while users improve their management and access to the documents they need and use most.

The combined solution will provide government agencies:

•   Easy Web access for the public to find the forms and documents required for interacting with an agency
•   Better information sharing among departments and agencies
•   Reports on usage of documents, inventory and spending on printing
•   Seamless connections to preferred print vendors, internal or external to an agency, for electronic ordering
•   A procurement and catalog management platform for other items such as office supplies, office equipment or temporary services

Our combined offering provides government agencies with a single solution to manage and access both printed and digital documents," said Joe Morgan, president and CEO of SMARTworks, LLC. We share a philosophy in delivering technology solutions that automate business processes and help organizations bridge the gap between print and digital communications."

The federal government is currently working to comply with the Paper Elimination Act and Section 508 (Americans with Disabilities Act) on accessibility issues. Intercons proven and leading-edge technology has been well received in the federal government, the largest user of paper-based documents and forms in the country. The strategic relationship with SMARTworks is very timely for our market. Its a mutually beneficial business relationship and the biggest winner will be our federal government," said John Paroda, president of Intercon.

The GSA (General Services Administration) was one of the first to use Intercons Accessible FormNet for the governments Standard and Optional Forms. My productivity and speed have drastically increased and my frustration level has decreased. You don't know how nice it is to go in to do a form and complete it just as fast, if not faster than my sighted co-workers," said Dan Perkins, a contract specialist with the GSA. Federal agencies, state governments and the public access and use these forms created with FormNet.

The U.S. federal government currently has over 65,000 users using Accessible FormNet," said Paroda, The added functionality of SMARTworks will take Accessible FormNet to new levels for all government entities. It will provide a one stop shop for their electronic document management as well as printed documents."
