Laser Diode, Inc (LDI), a unit of Tyco Electronics, is now offering an improved PINFET Optical Receiver that provides an excellent solution for optical receiver systems that require both high sensitivity and wide dynamic range.

Laser Diode, Incorporated (LDI), a unit of Tyco Electronics, is now offering an improved PINFET Optical Receiver. The PINFET detector provides an excellent solution for optical receiver systems that require both high sensitivity and wide dynamic range. The PINFET is ideal for applications including telecommunications, line-terminating equipment, repeaters, supervisory channel, optical gyros, and sensor systems.

The low profile DIP package combines both industry standard pin-outs with high reliability to satisfy Telcordia specifications. Features include both high sensitivity and wide dynamic range over a bandwidth range, which can be customized to meet application specific requirements. Options include automatic gain control (AGC), a Silicon based detector for 850nm applications, and single-mode optical fiber coupled pigtail.

LDIs PINFET integrates a PIN photodiode and a discrete, high-performance transimpedance amplifier stage. Light is coupled into the detector stage through a multimode optical fiber pigtail, which allows excellent coupling with either single mode or multimode fiber systems.

The LDPF series PINFET receiver is LDI's highest sensitivity product. The sensitivity is maximized at a particular bandwidth that may be selected from our standard offering or can be defined by the customer for high volume applications.

The LDPW series PINFET includes AGC and has been optimized for wide dynamic range operation (up to 0dBm) while maintaining a very high sensitivity level.
