An accidental scientific discovery by Michael J. Cohen, has become a much needed social and health tool as well as a U.S.A. Presidential Platform for 2004. His organization is now offering specialized jobs, courses, internships and career positions in this regard. In addition a free online learning-with-nature course is available at http://www.ecopsych.com/giftpersonal.html

Dr. Cohen, an Integrated Ecology Director at the Institute of Global Education, observed in 1953 that when visiting an attractive natural area, people, over time, experienced stress reduction along with greater peace and wellness. This moved him to investigate what caused this beneficial phenomenon and how it might be made readily available to relieve human and environmental suffering.

Author of several books on reconnecting to nature Cohen says "People are part of nature. Our excessively nature separated lives stress and contaminate our psyche and spirit. This causes us to unintentionally inflict and suffer our great personal, social and environmental health problems."

To reverse this destructive trend Cohen has made a free online course available that anybody can take and optionally add to their transcript or resume. The course is located at http://www.ecopsych.com/integrity101.html It is also available as a gift that people can enjoy and give via http://www.ecopsych.com/giftpersonal.html

Cohen notes: "To help us deal with our contaminated psyche, a unique learning with nature process enables us to genuinely interlace our senses and sensibilities with the recycling powers of nature. Because we are part of nature, when we authentically connect to nature these purifying powers begin to reverse our contamination. Our mentality benefits from the restorative energies this process activates. Insurmountable problems fade as our discontents transform into constructive participation."
