'AUSTIN CONSPIRACY' GOES PUBLIC DECEMBER 28
Pssst! Have you heard about the Austin Conspiracy? For four years, the singer-songwriter collective has carved out a respected place on the national folk music scene. Its 15 member acts have been lifting themselves up by their own bootstraps: sending out tours, showcasing at national conferences and winning songwriting contests across the country. They've developed an online retail presence, a series of weekly rotating gigs at various venues, and a booking agency.
Now, the Austin Conspirators are bringing it all back home. Starting December 28, at Austin's venerable Waterloo Ice House, they're launching a series of showcases in Austin, Houston and San Antonio. Lone Star listeners can sample a bulging buffet of Austin songwriting,
from hard-edged rock'n'roll and Latino country-folk to mellow ballads and side-splitting satire.
Part of the concert proceeds will help pay for the Conspiracy's trip to Nashville, Feb. 6-9, for the 15th International Folk Alliance conference. The Conspiracy showcases its members at the event, which brings together booking agents, venue owners and media people from across North America. Besides these showcases, members raise funds by staging concerts around the state.
Corporations or businesses interested in booking the Austin Conspiracy to provide live original music for events in the State of Texas should contact Alton Rex at altonrex@io.com. The Conspiracy can produce shows 2 to 6 hours in length with a variety of musical styles for exceptionally reasonable rates. The various artists styles include caberet, country, pop/folk rockers, topical satirists, and more. The talents of the group are collectively broad enough to cover any need from classical to hard rock to show tunes. They can also manage all ancilliary support activities such as sound reinforcement, radio & print advertising design and placement, and/or distribution.
