SAN JOSE, Bluetooth Developers Conference & Expo, December 10, 2002 -- Silicon Wave, a leading supplier of integrated circuits for Wireless Personal Area Networks, today demonstrated operation of its true single-chip technology for Bluetooth wireless communications. The demonstration is implemented using a low cost 0.18 um CMOS process and showcases a high performance direct-conversion radio integrated with an ARM7 processor and associated RAM and ROM memory, as well as all Bluetooth baseband functions in a 1.8 V device. The device maintains the proven high-performance of Silicon Waves current offerings with a significantly higher level of integration. The single-chip technology is designed to take advantage of Silicon Waves recently announced software upgradeable Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH) technology as well as being a 'golden" unit for Microsofts Windows Hardware Qualification Lab (WHQL) qualification process. For more information about Silicon Waves single-chip wireless CMOS IC technology demonstration, please visit Silicon Wave in the San Jose Convention Center, booth #113.

Silicon Wave continues to lead the industry in developing high performance Bluetooth radio technologies to satisfy customers various needs," said Lars Mucke, vice president of semiconductor technology for Silicon Wave. Different applications require different solutions and this demonstration of our low-cost true single-chip wireless CMOS technology is another example of Silicon Waves commitment to its customers in many market segments. The key has been to preserve the high quality and performance our customers have come to expect from us, while driving down the cost and size of the Bluetooth system solution."
