2nd GCC economic Forum- Press Conference

Dubai UAE (December 17, 2002). The organizing committee of the 2nd GCC Economic Forum at a press conference held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai briefed on the high profile 2nd GCC Economic Forum scheduled to begin at the Emirates Towers Hotel from January 11-15th 2003.


The press conference was attended by senior personnel from the UAE Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Emirates Telecommunication Corporation (ETISALAT) and Microsoft who are the principal supporters of the 2nd GCC Economic Forum organized by Datamatix.


The 2nd GCC Economic Forum will open with an inaugural address by His Excellency Abdul Rahman Hamad Al Attiya Secretary General Gulf Cooperation Council. The opening ceremony will have representatives from regions premier organizations like League of Arab States, United Nations Developments Program (UNDP), and ESCWA.


Mr. Khaled Al Khasraji Under-Secretary of UAE Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs speaking on the GCC Economic Forum and its relevance to the GCC region said Various national governments in the GCC via different projects and initiatives are in a continuous process of seeking suitable economic practices and business models that can sustain the progress achieved. The GCC Economic Forum is one such initiative which will add strength to our regions efforts for better economic performance".


Introducing the program schedule Mr. Ali Al Kamali chairman organizing committee said There is growing need for updated and precise information on the latest trends in economy, management and related disciplines for the emerging economies of the region. This event will focus on issues related to the GCC Economy and ways for the regional economies to grow and integrate with the global economy".


Mr. Kamali presenting the global personalities who will join the 2nd GCC Economic Forum as key note speakers and presenters said The keynote speakers and others who make presentations include some of the best names on the subject. Our chief priority while conceiving this program was to ensure that the event delivers rich dividends to participating delegates from the GCC region. The speakers and the subjects they present were chosen keeping in mind of their relevance to the local industry".


Hon Al Gore Former Vice President United States of America will deliver the keynote address on the opening session on day one (January 11th 2003) of the 2nd GCC Economic forum. In his address Hon Al Gore will comment on Global economic Downturn and the role of US and Europe in the new world economic order and their impact on developing countries. The former US Vice president will also speak at the pre-lunch session on How GCC free trade and open business policies can support the future economy?"


World renowned scientist Dr Farouk El- Baz, Director Center for Remote Sensing, Boston University and Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, Dr. Farouk El Baz will be the keynote speaker on third day on the GCC Economic Forum


Mr. FAUZI SAAD, Advisor to National Entrepreneurship Council of Malaysia (PUNB) Malaysia, will deliver the keynote address on the fourth day of the forum. Mr. Saad will present a case study on the Malaysian Information technology industry.


Dr. Akram Yosri a senior professor of Information Systems at New York University's Information Technologies Institute. Dr. Yosri will lead Dubtech technology conference with a discussion on Applying Six Sigma methodology on Information technology projects.


The UAE Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs will present a case study on Ministry. Dr. Khaled Al Khasraji under secretary UAE Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs will present the case study.


The GCC Economic Forum is a five day event and is planned to address serious issues faced by the GCC industry by dedicated conference programs. The forum includes individual conference programs like Reinventing GCC Governments, Dubtech Conference, GCC Banking Forum, 3rd PR and Media Conference addressing management, Information Technology, Banking and Finance, media respectively. The forum also includes 7th Middle East IT Awards ceremony.
