Upscale Furnishings For Discerning Dogs

Dogmopolitan has created elegant, plush sofas specifically designed for the loyal pets of loving owners.

Newport Beach, CA -- Dogs have been banished to a world of hard, cold floors and uncomfortable cardboard boxes for far too long. Dogmopolitan comes to the rescue with elegant, plush sofas specifically designed for the loyal pets of loving owners.

These luxurious creations, costing between $350 and $2000, are just like couches for humans -- except smaller. Dogmopolitan features 18 styles in nearly 50 different fabrics, and special orders can be designed to match any decor. Skilled craftsman base every handmade sofa on a sturdy, all-wood frame. Each exceptional couch is made in the United States and is carefully hand-stuffed and hand-upholstered. Only the most durable, finest of fabrics are used for the crisscross binding that ensures comfort and trusted endurance.

Dogmopolitan is the brainchild of designer Lex Gable. She recognized the need for canine-specific seating while redecorating her abode. Her bulldog, Dogmo, and two miniature pinschers, Spike and Xena, took an unfortunate liking to the new, expensive human furnishings.

"I dearly love my babies," Gable said of her dogs, "but Dogmo has a drooling problem and the pinschers shed incessantly. I couldnt risk ruining my brand-new furniture, but I felt bad taking my precious pooches off the seats. Thats when it dawned on me to create miniature sofas for them that perfectly matched my new interior."

Gable and partner Bryan Elparin wanted to create something to appease the animals. Elparin drew from his knowledge of furniture manufacturing and Gable designed the ornate couch. Instead of cheap, flimsy dog beds that always become an eyesore, Gable wanted something exquisite. When the first completed pieces entered Gables home the dogs "jumped right on the sofas and made them their own," Gable said. "It was so cute."

Friends visiting Gables home also loved the small, beautiful sofas and insisted that she construct similar pieces for their pets. Word of mouth spread and soon people were calling from all around asking for customized canine couches -- and Dogmopolitan was born.
