Glen Burtnik To Perform At Stone Pony January 11th

Award winning songwriter Glen Burtnik to perform solo with full band at Asbury Park's Stone Pony, Saturday, January 11, 2003.

ASBURY PARK, NJ (December 21, 2002) - Award winning songwriter Glen Burtnik, a regular part of the Asbury Park music scene in the early 80's and currently bassist/vocalist with multi-platinum rock group STYX, will perform a solo show backed by a full band at the legendary Stone Pony on Saturday, January 11th.

Burtnik has had a multi-faceted musical career. Beginning on Broadway in the show BEATLEMANIA, he portrayed Paul McCartney, playing left-handed bass and singing McCartney's material. Throughout the 80's, he often shared the stage at the Stone Pony with Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny, Little Steven Van Zandt, and Jon Bon Jovi.

In the late 80's, Burtnik released his first two solo albums on A&M Records, and in the early 90's joined STYX, singing, writing, and playing lead guitar.

His songs became sought after throughout the 90's, as Burtnik wrote for various artists such as John Waite, Cyndi Lauper, Randy Travis, Phoebe Snow, Marshall Crenshaw, Katey Sagal, Beth Hart, Tom Scott, Patty Smyth, and Don Henley.

In 1996, Burtnik's solo independent recording PALOOKAVILLE was released to critical acclaim in the USA at the same time another album, RETROSPECTACLE, was released in Europe.

Since 1999, Burtnik has been bassist/vocalist with STYX, and is currently writing and recording a new album with the band called CYCLORAMA, scheduled for release in early 2003. Burtnik is also in the process of recording his next solo CD, entitled WELCOME TO HOLLYWOOD.

Saturday, January 11th, Burtnik will take the stage at the Stone Pony backed by a full band. Fans can expect a tasty combination of old favorites sprinkled with a bit of new material from his forthcoming CD, served up the way only Glen Burtnik can deliver.
