RICHMOND, VA -- JANUARY 6, 2003 -- STR Software was recently awarded a third contract from Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Trimble Navigation, a leading innovator of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. STR Software will implement the AventX Oracle Connector, which will enable users to fax any printable documents, such as purchase orders, invoices and acknowledgements, directly from Oracle E-Business Suite, a business applications software package. Trimble chose the AventX Oracle Connector for several reasons: they liked the products functionality, flexibility and tight integration into Oracle; and, they were interested in the possible integration into Reveal, a web-based enterprise reporting software product.
Trimble Navigation will also be migrating from the HP e3000 platform to Linux, a UNIX operating system. The migration was prompted by HP's decision to discontinue the sale and support of the HP e3000, which runs on the MPE operating system. As a result, Trimble, a longtime AventX MPE user, will also be moving to STR Software's AventX UNIX, the UNIX equivalent to AventX MPE, for faxing and emailing documents electronically from UNIX systems.
