ATLANTA, GA -- Stonesoft and Internet Security Systems, Inc. (ISS) today announced that Richard H.L. Marshall, principal deputy director of the Critical Infrastructure Assurance Office (CIAO), will be the keynote speaker at the Information Security Executive of the Year in Georgia Award 2003. As the only event to honor Georgias leading, most innovative information security pioneers, the Information Security Executive of the Year in Georgia Award 2003 will be held at Atlantas historic Fox Theatre from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM on Wednesday, March 19, 2003.

Marshall is a leading member of the CIAO, a government agency that helps coordinate the development of the Administrations National Strategy for Critical infrastructure Protection to address threats to the Nations communications and electronic systems, transportation, energy, banking and finance, health and medical services, water supply, and key government services. The CIAO also assists Federal departments and agencies identify their dependencies on critical infrastructure under the Project Matrix program and coordinates national awareness, education and outreach efforts to private industry and State and Local governments.

As threats to corporate networks increase, it is imperative that the information security agenda become the top priority for those involved with the development and maintenance of an organization's network," said Marshall. "It is necessary to analyze corporate assets, identify risks and consequences, and then prescribe solutions that positively impact their business."

"We are pleased to have Richard Marshall address Georgia's business and technology community on the timely issue of information security," said Marc Winn, president of Stonesoft, Inc., the event's presenting co-sponsor. "The events of September 11, 2001, debilitating computer viruses, hackers, fraud, and malicious attacks have made information security planning a top priority for CIOs. As organizations tackle issues that ensure the ongoing security and, as importantly, the availability of their critical systems and information, it is important for us to gather with our state's CIOs to provide them with new industry information that will positively impact their organizations' abilities to deal decisively with these issues."

Steven Russ, VP of Strategic Marketing and Communications at ISS, adds, Richard will present key insights into many of the issues - both present and future - facing information security officers today. His extensive experience and findings will be a valuable resource for IT Security professionals as they continue to fight the two-front war of reducing their company's information security exposure while at the same time, increasing the return on the security investment."
