WANCHESE, N.C. -- Sculley Boatbuilders, a maker of reliable and luxurious Carolina sportfishing yachts, announced today that it has completed construction of its first 60-foot boat, and that reservations for sea trials are now being accepted.
Chief Operating Officer Jim Polatty says the Sculley 60 Sportfisherman combined the famous ride and seaworthiness of Carolina-built yachts with Sculley Boatbuilders hand-crafted, South Florida-style finish, each one tailor made to express the unique desires and needs of individual boat captains.
We enhanced the performance of the Sculley 60 Sportfisherman from the Sculley 58 Sportfisherman, adding more bottom to the boat and decreasing the shaft angle," Polatty says. Its running at 40 knots on the same amount of power."
The engine room of the Sculley 60 Sportfisherman gives each captain a six-feet, two-inch-high, 14x14 air-conditioned room to comfortably perform routine maintenance, or to deal with more sea-bound emergencies. The room is also fitted with high-polished, stainless steel overhead, as are the outboard soffits, providing a clear view, from any angle, of all sides of the engine-- a truly unique effect, Polatty says.
Donald Blount and Associates, Inc., founded by former U.S. Navy Chief Architect Donald Blount, designed the hull of the Sculley 60 Sportfisherman. He says the new Sculley is one of the finest vessels to ever cut through the sea and possibly the most accommodating high-speed, rough-water craft available on the market today.
The engineering background of Jim Polatty and the Sculley familys three generations of sportfishing experience combine to create one of the most unique and reliable vessels found anywhere," Blount says. We don't do design work for just anybody who walks through our door."
Sculley Boatbuilders doesn't guide its craftsmen with pre-developed molds, but rather Sculley's team assists its clients through all phases of the building process -- from conception to launch and well beyond, says the younger Sculley.
Like all serious sport fisherman, no two Sculley boats are exactly the same," the younger Sculley says. Its our ride but your vision and thats how we build them -- one Carolina boat at a time."
