INDIGO MAGAZINE LAUNCHED IN NEW YORK: New Magazine for Upscale Black Market in the New York Metropolitan Area

Indigo Magazine, a new quarterly publication targeting affluent black professionals launched early December 2002.

(December 28, 2002 - New York, NY) Indigo Magazine, a new quarterly publication targeting affluent black professionals and professionals of color launched earlier in December in New York. Calling itself New Yorks Black Cultural Passport, this lifestyle magazine offers five full-length features: People, Places, HomeStyle, Events and Things as well as a variety of departments: Fashion, ArtSense, Collections, Heritage, Technology, Travel, Books and Film. Indigo addresses emerging needs among today's affluent blacks by providing unique lifestyle content that is engaging, in-depth and timely.

"I am excited to bring to the market this unique publication on New York's black culture and lifestyle. We are a customized experience and a resource for a rapidly expanding black upscale community. Indigo is for black men and women. It signifies the essence of things and a way of being that speaks to style and elegance" comments Atim Annette Oton, the Nigerian-American editor of the magazine. She continues, "It is my commitment to provide a venue and product that is sophisticated, unusual and dynamic, and essentially, it is a celebration of the diversity and dynamism of black New York."

Indigo Magazine with its unusual size, a 7" wide and 8-1/2" high glossy format debuted with a late Fall 2002 issue intended to reach 10,000 readers. Entitled Art and Design, this issue explores the lives and work of black artists and designers in New York. It contains an interview with artist Tony Gray, a profile of designer Patti Carpenter and our adventure into a place called One Good Thing in Harlem. This is the first lifestyle magazine with a strong New York black cultural emphasis that caters to upscale black professionals who live in the suburbs and surrounding areas.

DISTRIBUTION:

Indigo Magazine is in distribution at limited locations in New York and can also be found at the website, http://www.indigomagazine.com. Subscriptions can be made online, via postal mail or through magazine subscription cards. The magazine is also distributed in two formats - as a print copy and as a PDF copy online. The print version is $12 for a subscription while the online version is $6.

ABOUT OUR NEXT ISSUE-SPRING 2003:

Business Intersections, the Spring Issue, due out in mid-January, profiles the creative work and approaches of Mishka Brown and Bill Mack at Aerolith.com. It explores Jimmys Midtown and sneaks a peak at the Brownstone in Harlem. This issue, Indigo previews the Black Fine Art Show in New York and goes upstate New York with historian A.J. Williams-Myers to introduce one of black America's heritage event, the Pinkster Festival.

Indigo is published by New York-based A2EO Media, Inc. (A2EO). The company specializes in idea, editorial and cultural content, content development, strategic planning and implementation on publishing projects with multimedia technologies.
