BOPS WirelessRay Selected As Best DSP IP Core Of 2001 In Microprocessor Report's Analysts' Choice Awards
Mountain View, Calif., March 6, 2002 BOPS, Inc., the leading provider of programmable broadband digital signal processing (DSP) cores, today announced that Cahners In-Stat/MDR (MicroDesign Resources), publisher of the Microprocessor Report, has selected BOPS as the recipient of the Analysts' Choice Award for "Best DSP IP Core of 2001". Cahners In-Stat/MDR honors the best new microprocessor chips and most promising new microprocessor technology with their Analysts Choice Awards. This year s awards spanned ten categories, recognizing excellence in semiconductor technology innovation, design and implementation. The awards will be formally presented during the week of the Embedded Processor Forum (http://www.mdronline.com/epf), April 29-May 2 in San Jose.
"The WirelessRay core, founded upon BOPS ManArray architecture fits a wide range of capabilities". According to Markus Levy, senior analyst with In-Stat/ MDR, "the WirelessRay can find a home in a base station s smart antenna, relying on its distributed processing to parallelize the workload, and at the other extreme, the architecture s multiple levels of parallelism allow the processor to be run at low clock speeds and thereby tackle the performance requirements of a mobile handset. The combination of all these features and benefits gives BOPS' architecture a leg up and makes it deserving of the Microprocessor Report Analysts' Choice Award for Best DSP IP Core of 2001."
"We are honored to receive this prestigious award, in particular to be singled out from among such a well-regarded list of formidible and respected competitors", said Carl Schlachte, CEO of BOPS. "This distinction further demonstrates that our ManArray DSP architecture can simultaneously achieve superior performance and low power consumption in mainstream applications, such as wireless networking."
"The advantages of our unique DSP architecture, used to create our WirelessRay core, not only include broad versatility as noted in the award, but also a unique level of scalability to fit an even broader range of practical applications", noted Steve Schulz, VP Corporate Marketing. "The value of BOPS' DSP core is further enhanced by an industry-leading parallel-optimizing C compiler, robust software development kit (SDK), and selection of DSP libraries to support popular and emerging applications."
