Scottsdale, Ariz., was voted the number one incentive travel destination in the United States in a February 2002 survey of 156 corporate buyers from across Canada. Responding to the recent Meetings & Incentive Travels 2002 Market Report survey, these planners, whose opinions reflect industry trends, voted Scottsdale ahead of Hawaii, San Francisco/Napa Valley, Phoenix, Miami/Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Los Angeles, New Orleans and New York City.
When asked which destinations planners are considering for incentive programs in the next two years, 93 percent of respondents said they are using or considering the U.S. Sunbelt region (Florida, California and Arizona). This represents an increase of 32 percent over last year. An incentive program is a trip offered as a prize, particularly to stimulate the productivity of employees or sales agents.
Daily, non-stop service from Western Canada to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has helped to boost arrivals. Non-stop flights are now available on Air Canada from Vancouver, British Columbia, and Calgary, Alberta, to Phoenix.
It is an honor to be recognized as the top incentive travel destination in the country by corporate buyers from Canada,” said Kristi Miller, vice president of sales & services for the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. Scottsdale boasts all the key elements of a premier incentive destination including five-star resorts, world-class golf, a variety of recreational activities, ease of air accessibility and more than 330 days of sunshine.”
