A Giant Leap in the Security Race
LeapPoint Creates Splash with AiroPoint Wireless Security Device
ANN ARBOR, MI, USA -- April 29, 2002 -- LeapPoint Technologies, Inc, a new player in the wireless security market, announced today the release of the AiroPoint 3600 Security Server, the first device to combine wireless security and traditional RADIUS AAA services in a drop-in appliance.
Security on wireless networks has been a major concern for enterprise networks, since the radio frequency-based signals of 802.11 can be intercepted. No corporation wants unauthorized listeners" capturing sensitive information from their parking lot. AiroPoint 3600 includes specific features to tighten the security and ease the management of access to Wi-Fi (802.11) wireless LAN networks. AiroPoint 3600 also supports Ciscos (CSCO) LEAP protocol for use with Cisco Aironet wireless LAN equipment.
AiroPoint 3600 is based on Interlink Networks' carrier-class AAA RADIUS server software products in use by thousands of service providers worldwide."Our partnership with Interlink Networks is a key component of our new wireless security server product direction," said Don Holland, Chief Executive Officer of LeapPoint Technologies. "By combining our proven networking technology and embedded systems expertise with Interlink's proven RADIUS AAA services, we are delivering the robust, easy-to-install and operate security appliance that the market is craving today. This new product will remove the concerns about how to deploy secure wireless LAN access into today's enterprise networks."
In addition to controlling network access through traditional methods such as remote dial-up, VPN, and firewalls, AiroPoint 3600 incorporates features for improving the security of wireless LANs. AiroPoint 3600 acts as a Wireless Access Manager, authenticating users of 802.11 wireless LANs and securing their connection to the network. AiroPoint 3600 can tie any number of remote access servers and wireless access points from multiple vendors to a single user database, centralizing and simplifying the management and control of secure networks access.
AiroPoint 3600 is available for immediate shipment, starting at $2,499, in software upgradeable models with support for 200, 500, 1,000, 5,000, or 10,000 user sessions.
