PUTNAM a new musical written and directed by Sharon Fogarty‡ (4 performances only!!!) May 30th through June 2nd Thursday through Sunday 8:00 P.M. at The Actors Playground 412 Eighth Avenue, 2nd Fl., Buzzer #1 (Bet. 30/31 Sts., NYC) $15, Smartix

Dysfunctionally famous William Putnam finds a home among celebrities thought to have died young. Featured are underground versions of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Janis Joplin, Billie Holliday and Amelia Earhart who hold onto no relic of their famous pasts except for their middle names. Music and impersonations play homage to the missing" celebrities, as if they had had been granted a longer, less publicized existence.

These four performances will serve as a preview to a longer run coming this Fall at a venue to be determined.

Sharon Fogarty is a composer/choreographer turned playwright whose works include the newly published Bride of Frankenstein ~ an experiment in intimacy (Estrogenius Festival 2001), ‘heaven (NYC Fringe 2000), Next to Nothing (NYC Fringe 2001), The Overdevelopment of Scott (Dixon Place), BACH Remedies (Greenwich Street Theatre) and Feminine Monsters Throughout History (Synchronicity Space). ‘Putnam is Fogartys 26th produced play. Directing credits include the currently running Pink Steel in Get Thee Behind me Gaytan", Patsy Graces The Wise Sophia, and the highly acclaimed adaptation Its a Wonderful One-Man-Show Life. Fogarty has choreographed 60+ ballets and has written hundreds of songs. She has toured extensively with IMAGO Mask Theatre, Meredith Monk, Ping Chong, Doug Elkins and Sara Sugihara. She has been producing her own work in New York City since 1986.
