Exor Corporation and Geoplan Consultants Inc. Awarded Contract
To Supply Integrated Highway Management System
FAIRFAX, Va. – (INTERNET WIRE) – March 19, 2002. Exor Corporation, supplier of the worlds leading integrated highways management software, announced today that the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Public Works (NSDTPW) has selected Exor Corporation and Geoplan Consultants Inc. of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada to provide several Highways by Exor software applications. NSDTPW is responsible for the management, operation and maintenance of over 3,900 bridges and 23,000 kilometers of provincial roads in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Exors Network Manager, Spatial Data Manager, Document Manager, Spatial Browser, Information Manager and Reports Manager products will form the underlying technology for the Network Management System (NMS), the core application component of the Departments Transportation Management Information System (TMIS). The NMS application will support the integration of business areas using NSDTPWs Highway Location Referencing System (HLRS) as a foundation for the referencing of linear network data. NMS will also support additional Linear Referencing Methods (LRMs) in common use throughout NSDTPW such as the Road Listings Database (RLD) sections, traffic sections and Operational Financial Management Information System (OFMIS) sections.
Exors Network Manager will provide a single integrated approach to referencing data to the provincial highway system. The application will allow the sharing of HLRS link definitions, will create time stamped versions of the road network, and will maintain the integrity of linear locations associated with data in the various subsystems. In addition to the HLRS, the Exor applications will also be integrated with the Departments ARC/INFO GIS for map display and spatial query of roadway assets. The Spatial Browser, Information Manager and Reports Manager products will provide convenient and cost-effective web based access to both road network data and other spatial data that will be served from a distributed spatial data warehouse located at the Nova Scotia Geomatics Centre (NSGC).
In evaluating project options, NSDTPW decided that a commercial software product solution offered the most cost/effective and timely approach for meeting the Departments integrated solution goals. The selection of Exors Network Management System will provide a foundation for the Department to build on its vision of an integrated transportation management information system. We are very excited with this implementation project and look forward to working with Geoplan and Exor," explained Kent Speiran, the project sponsor at NSDTPW.
We welcome the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Public Works into our growing family of clients in North America. Highways by Exor products are now installed at six State transportation departments in the United States and at two Canadian provincial transportation
agencies," said Bill Elliott, North American sales executive at Exor. Ed Smith, President of Geoplan, added, The combination of Exors comprehensive highway information management application solutions with Geoplans expertise in project management, Exor systems integration and GIS implementation will provide the basis for a cost-effective data management environment for the NMS application, as well as the foundation for the future integration of other departmental asset databases. With both Nova Scotia and British Columbia now using Exor products, we are confident that the Geoplan/Exor partnership can provide an excellent solution for other Canadian transportation agencies that require an integrated asset management environment."
Exor Corporation will provide the applications software, conduct software training and provide software support, while Canadian partner Geoplan Consultants Inc. will install and configure the NMS application for NSDTPW use, manage system implementation, perform data loading tasks and assist in user training.
