savemountcarbon.com Initiative Names New Spokesperson
Grassroots effort seeks to relocate golf course toilet structures from the crest of suburban Denver's Mount Carbon to a location that doesn't interrupt the 360-degree view.
(PRWEB) June 7, 2002 - Maggie Chamberlin Holben, wife of Steve Holben, will now serve as the spokesperson for the initiative to move golf course toilets currently being installed at the summit of Mt. Carbon. The mountain is located in southwest Metro Denver at Bear Creek dam. The northeast side of the mountain is the future home of the Homestead at Fox Hollow Golf Course. The toilet buildings are part of that project.
"My husband is ready for a break. He's busy with his business and cannot spend the time required to build the power base necessary to move the toilets. He's done a wonderful job getting the attention of three television stations and two newspapers. I've been very proud of him, particularly given the way the city has put him under police scrutiny for his communication style. Quite simply, he did not ever threaten to burn the toilet structures down," Maggie says.
Most importantly, according to Maggie, this issue is about mis-located golf restrooms atop Mt. Carbon, not about Steve Holben's personality.
Details of Steve Holben's one-man initiative to relocate the toilets from the top of Mt. Carbon to a less obtrusive location can be read in the May 23 Lakewood Sentinel article by LeRoy Standish: http://www.jeffconews.com/n2140yd.html
"Steve and I have enjoyed picnics atop Mt. Carbon for a number of years, delighting in the wonderful 360-degree view of Denver and the Rocky Mountains. We've been shocked that toilet buildings are located directly on top of the mountain.
"As Steve has reiterated many times, the 360-degree view is simply wonderful, and we believe everyone's needs can be met through cooperation. We plan to be at the June 10th Lakewood City Council meeting to share details of the Save Mount Carbon initiative with our city's elected officials," Maggie explains.
